A Letter from Kathy

My passion for quilting began about 30 years ago when my longtime friend, Angela,
came for a visit with a copy of
The McCall's Book of Quilts in hand.  She wanted to
make a Double Wedding Ring quilt.  Knowing that I could sew, she asked for my help.  I
didn't have a clue what we were getting ourselves into, but I said, "Let's give it a try!"  It
turned out that the Double Wedding Ring Quilt was not a quilt for a novice; it was for
the very experienced!  But we forged ahead and before long Angela had a beautiful
quilt.  Of course I had to make one for myself and the rest is history!  I've been hooked
on quilting ever since.

Over the years, I have made quilts for my husband, two daughters and baby quilts for
my three grandsons.  I've made bed-sized quilts and baby quilts for friends and
co-workers.  I asked co-workers to join in by making their own quilt squares, and I would
assemble our finished quilt for the mom-to-be.  Customers have purchased my quilts for
wall-hangings as well.  And rest assured, my daycare kids always had a comfy, cozy
quilt for nap time.

I ran my own family daycare from my home for many years.  When we moved to
Crestline, in the San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California, it was apparent that
our home was too small for daycare, but just right for quilting!  While I do miss my
daycare kids, I keep the spirit of children around me by making quilts.  After all, I am just
a kid at heart!

I must mention that since moving to the mountain I have met the most wonderful group
of ladies --- all quilters!  Each and every one has made my move here so much easier.
A very special
Thank you to each and every one of you!
